A Message From Our CEO

What an exciting time it is for the Memorial Health Care System as our healthcare family builds on its 90-year Legacy of Caring and service to the community. I’m sincerely honored to serve as Memorial’s Chief Executive Officer and look forward with anticipation as we build on past success and position our healthcare system to extend its healing mission throughout our service area.
In less than 10 years, Memorial will celebrate its first centennial of service to the community. Clearly, we admire and celebrate the people—employees, physicians, volunteers and board members—who preceded us and challenge us today as we acknowledge the significant obstacles they faced throughout Memorial’s nine decades of providing the very best care possible to the residents of our community.
We have been gifted with a wonderful opportunity to provide leadership and stewardship as the United States and the healthcare industry face unprecedented economic adversity and increasing demands from the public, government, the business community, managed-care companies and a host of others. Although challenging, we must focus on the possibilities and seize the opportunity to be a force for good and effectively manage change.
Memorial’s comprehensive range of services, including the latest in surgical and diagnostic procedures as well as a new physical medicine facility coupled with our exemplary community outreach programs attest to our commitment to be the community’s First Choice for Healthcare.
Equally important is Memorial’s positive impact to the local economy. In addition to providing the community with vital healthcare services, Memorial Healthcare Systems serve as a major employer for residents of Sandusky County and neighboring communities. We are an economic stimulus for our local economy through local spending, by offering our community well-paying jobs, and stimulating job creation in related industries.
We are thankful for the opportunity to make a positive difference in people’s lives and we recognize that we must earn our community’s trust and demonstrate our commitment to serve with purpose.
I wish you good health.

John C. Yanes, FACHE
