Community Health Plan Alliance | Memorial Hospital

Community Health Plan Alliance Memorial HospitalMemorial Hospital, the Chamber of Commerce of Sandusky County, and SummaCare have joined together to develop a health plan that will meet the needs of area employers - regardless of the size of the business.

With so many small to midsized companies in Sandusky County, health insurance premiums and access to health care is a key issue. An option was needed that would provide all area employers - including those with one or more employees, a health care plan that offers flexibility, access to area physicians, and a lower premium than what is typically available to small businesses.

Applying the Concept of Group Purchasing to Health Insurance Premiums

The primary reason why premiums are so high for small businesses is the risk associated with just a few employees. Insurance underwriters know that in a small group, one catastrophic case could quickly become costly to the carrier.

Community Health Plan Alliance (CHPA), provides an opportunity for smaller businesses to pool some of their risk, and lower their premiums.
