Thousands attend annual Memorial Hospital Family Fest

17-Sep-2012

Memorial Hospital has four FamilyFests behind it now. The 2012 event was the most successful yet, with thousands of people attending. The event focuses on providing families in the communities that Memorial Hospital serves with a free event focused on healthy and active lifestyles.

The event included physical activities for children, including nutrition bingo, fire extinguisher safety, jumping jacks, train rides, bounce houses, obstacle courses and many other healthy activities.

New this year was the "Teddy Bear Hospital," where children brought their sick or injured stuffed animals to be healed by hospital plush care professionals.

In addition to Memorial Hospital sponsored booths, more than 25 local agencies, who manned informational booths, including one with students from the group, Teens Against Texting While Driving, participated in Family Fest 2012. Some of the other organizations who joined in the fun included the Sandusky County Parks District, UTMC-St. Rita's-Mercy Lifeflight, several volunteer fire departments, NAMI, the Sandusky County YMCA, Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts of America and many others.
